At Little Bit of Dixie, every bar of soap is genuinely handmade — no shortcuts, no pre-made bases, and no mass production. We craft each batch completely from scratch using time-honored cold and hot process methods, blending raw goat milk with nourishing oils, skin-loving butters, and natural additives. This hands-on approach gives us total control over every ingredient, ensuring that each soap is not only effective, but also safe, gentle, and full of purpose. From earthy, essential oil blends to vibrant, mica-colored designs, our soaps are as unique as the people who use them — thoughtfully made in small batches with authentic care and craftsmanship you can feel in every lather.

 

🌸 Scents – Fragrances & Essential Oils
We offer a variety of scent options to suit every preference — from beautifully blended fragrance oils to pure, natural essential oils, and even unscented options for sensitive skin. Our fragrance oils are phthalate-free, made in the USA, and carefully selected for both safety and quality. For those who prefer plant-based aromatics, we use pure, unadulterated essential oils with no added solvents or dilutions. Each essential oil we use is supported by batch-specific testing and documentation, so you can trust in its authenticity and integrity. Prefer no scent at all? 🎨 Colors – Micas & Natural Colorants
We carefully color our soaps using a combination of natural plant-based ingredients and cosmetic-grade micas, depending on the desired look and feel of each bar. Some of our soaps are intentionally left color-free for a more natural experience, while others feature rich earth tones or vibrant hues — all made with clean, skin-safe ingredients.

• Turmeric – golden yellow, naturally rich in antioxidants

These micas are tinted with iron oxides (reds, browns, yellows), ultramarines (blues and purples), and manganese violet (a rich purple tone), offering a beautiful shimmer or bold pop of color, all without compromising purity or safety. We believe that every ingredient in your soap should be there for a reason — to nourish, protect, or enhance your skin. That’s why we formulate each batch from scratch using carefully selected, skin-loving ingredients:

• Raw Goat Milk – Adds creaminess and gentle cleansing, naturally rich in vitamins A, B6, and lactic acid to help soothe and soften skin.

• High Oleic Sunflower Oil – Packed with vitamin E, it deeply moisturizes and helps support the skin’s natural barrier.

• Organic Coconut Oil – Contributes a bubbly, cleansing lather while helping combat dryness.

• Beeswax – Adds staying power to each bar by locking in moisture and creating a longer-lasting, firm texture without artificial hardeners.

🛠️ Handmade Soaps – Crafted the Traditional Way
All of our soaps are lovingly made in small batches, giving us the freedom to create a wide variety of unique, nourishing scents. We use both cold process and hot process soapmaking methods—two time-honored techniques that rely on the natural chemical reaction known as saponification. Saponification occurs when natural oils and butters are blended with sodium hydroxide (lye), transforming into a gentle, effective bar of soap. While lye is essential to the process, none remains in the finished product—just skin-loving soap full of beneficial oils.

❄️ Cold Process Soap
Cold process soap is poured into molds and cured for 4–6 weeks, allowing it to harden naturally and become exceptionally mild. This method produces smooth, elegant bars and offers endless creative possibilities with swirls, layers, and botanicals. It’s ideal for those who appreciate a refined, long-lasting soap with a soft, creamy lather.

🔥 Hot Process Soap
Hot process soap is gently cooked during saponification, which speeds up the chemical reaction. Once poured, the bars can be used much sooner—often in just a few days. The texture is more rustic and rugged, but just as nourishing and effective. This method is perfect when quick turnaround is needed without sacrificing quality.

Both cold and hot process soaps are made from scratch with natural ingredients, offering different textures and curing timelines—but the same great skin benefits. 🚫 Why We Don’t Use Melt-and-Pour Bases
We choose not to use melt-and-pour soap bases, which are pre-made and simply melted down for shaping or adding fragrance. While convenient, these soaps don’t offer the same level of control over ingredients or the handmade integrity we value. By making our soaps entirely from scratch, we’re able to select every oil, butter, and additive—ensuring your skin gets the full benefit of truly natural, thoughtfully chosen ingredients in every bar.

❗ Melt-and-pour soaps also often contain preservatives, fillers, or undisclosed ingredients we wouldn’t use ourselves. Think of melt-and-pour like baking from a boxed cake mix — fast and easy, but not entirely your own. Our soaps are more like baking from scratch — made with care, transparency, and total control over what goes in and what stays out.
